Go on a raid over several days, en autonomies.

P3Z80021.JPG

Learn how to drive your team to explore the High Plateaux

Example of raid in autonomy:

You arrive in Varangerbotn at the end of the day or we pick you up and drive you to your accommodation. A meal awaits you; we all take it together to get to know each other.

The next morning, wake up at 8 a.m. and breakfast. We pick you up at 9:30 am and take you to our kennel for a presentation of the 30 dogs and teams. This is an opportunity for you to try on the wetsuits, boots and mittens that we make available to you. Then come the explanations: how to put the harnesses on the dogs and place them in the team, how to attach them, how to drive the sleds, how to follow the instructions during the raid and for each bivouac. These instructions are important, because you will repeat these gestures throughout the raid. Then, once the sleds are loaded, we go directly to a cabin in the taiga, located at a distance of 25-30 km. Arrived at the first bivouac, we tie up the dogs for the night, set up our quarters and heat the water to prepare the dogs' food and our evening meal.

We wake up at 6 a.m. the next morning.

After our breakfast and that of the dogs, we put away our belongings, clean the chalet and prepare the sleds and the dogs. The departure is scheduled for 9:30 am. Here we go for the second day of the raid, in the direction of a refuge.

This is how the days will unfold, until the last day of the raid. At the end of the raid, we arrive at Nanouak Dogsledding in the afternoon. We remove the harnesses from the dogs, bring them back to their kennels and unload the equipment. It's time to say goodbye to the dogs!

You will then find the chalet of your first night and we will all have dinner together in the evening.

We will accompany you the next day to bus stop N°64 for the airport.

Here is the course of the dog sledding raids that we offer. On certain bivouac sectors, you can try ice fishing on a frozen lake. There will be one or more nights that we will spend under the lavvo tent, with its stove.

From mid-April, there is a good chance that we will have to get up early (4 a.m. or 5 a.m.), to take advantage of the best snow. We will then arrive in the middle of the afternoon at the refuge or at the camp. Know that it is always daylight from this time on.

Health

Our activities take place outdoors, in winter conditions that require a lot of energy. A good physical condition is therefore essential. In order to make the most of your stay, prepare yourself with regular sporting activity and  a healthy lifestyle. It is important to be in good health to participate in the activities.

If in doubt, ask your doctor for advice.

We adapt the activities and the distances in sled dogs according to your physical conditions and the age of the members of the group. The musher-guide has the sole authority and responsibility to modify the program, if he deems it advisable, taking into account the weather conditions and the fatigue of the participants.

Prices in Arctic Norway

Life in Norway is expensive. In the far north, few cultures are possible, everything is imported; so the prices go up again.

Travelers' tips: come with a car or motorhome, plenty of food. But in winter, it gets complicated! You can opt for extra checked baggage for your favorite foods (a bottle or two of wine, as alcohol is extremely expensive here)
